The Cliff Cafe

Located on the Trat coast in eastern Thailand, The Cliff Café is a vivid architectural project inspired by local beach culture. The design reimagines contemporary Thai vernacular architecture—specifically the cluster of umbrellas found along public shores—translating them into a connected grid of upside-down umbrella structures. The venue splits into two side-by-side pavilions for ordering and indoor seating, centered by a glass table filled with sand as a playful local touch.

To capture a lively coastal energy, the building incorporates tactile street-level techniques. Cement surfaces feature hand-scratched textures that mimic wood grain, finished in bright yellow with crisp orange trims. This bold material pairing creates a striking visual presence, transforming everyday seaside elements into a fresh, dynamic architectural destination.
