Disassemblable Vendor | Product Design

In Thailand, when people talk about “street food,” the image that often comes to mind is two people exchanging a bag of food over a food vendor, also someone sitting at a small table eating next to a food vendor. No matter how you look at it, it’s clear that ‘food vendor’ has long been an integral element of Thai food culture. They create vibrant spaces for people to connect and even serves architectural meaning embedded within the everyday urban fabric.

When Everyday Architect Design Studio was commissioned to design a food vendor—specifically for ice cream—it was not intended for conventional street vending, but rather as a pop-up structure. The project challenged the design team to reinterpret the traditional vendor cart through an architectural lens.

Everyday Architect Design Studio came up with a key idea: making the cart modular and easy to assemble and disassemble. This allows it to be transported and set up in different locations with ease—something that traditional food vendors can’t usually do. In a way, the studio hope to set out to create Thailand’s first fully disassemblable street vendor, combining practical function with thoughtful design.
