Street Vendor Grease Trap is a portable grease trap for street vendors that can help solve two urban problems: reducing the direct pouring of wastewater into public manholes caused by some street food vendors and increasing the sidewalk space by parking across different levels of the city pavement.
Everyday Architect Design Studio uses data sets from “Thai Urban Mess Architecture” to develop the design of a portable grease trap. The insight data found that some street vendors often carry bricks or wooden frames to support their wheels so that they can park across different levels of the city pavement in case there is not enough parking space, to avoid taking too much space of pedestrian walkways.
The entire project shown at Bangkok Design Week 2025 is an initiative and design development process, as well as a demonstration of the initial prototype to receive feedback and develop actual products in the future.
