The Cliff Cafe is a vivid architectural project with an upside-down umbrella structure, located by the seaside in Trat, eastern of Thailand.
As this design project has located by the seaside, so we chose to study contemporary Thai vernacular architecture such as a group of public beach umbrellas by the sea as a design idea.
This group of beach umbrellas being the new design by choosing the grid umbrella structure as main approach for the building design, similar to beach umbrellas that are connected together. 2 buildings are placed side by side, order-taking area and the indoor seating area, with the glass table at the middle filled with sand as a cute gimmick.
Building textures use a local techniques such as scratch techniques on the cement surface to resemble fake wood patterns, painting over with bright yellow, trimming the edges with orange for vivid design.
